Shikoku sacred ground No.seventy nine Fudasho Tenno-ji Kosho-in Temple
Emperor Shotoku Shrine was built to pray for the repose of the soul of the Emperor Shotoku, and the temple came to be called “Emperor Temple” because of its connection with the Emperor. Today, the temple is the 79th temple of the Shikoku Sacred Sites and is visited by many worshippers. Located next to Shiramine Shrine, which enshrines Emperor Sutoku, the temple was originally a shrine temple of Shiramine Shrine, and its principal image is the eleven-faced Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva.
