Umemiya Shrine
There is a record of the construction of the shrine by Fujiwara Tajima-no-Mamoru Toshishige in March of the 6th year of Bun'an, but there are no ancient records prior to that time.
During Empress Jingu's conquest of Japan, she defeated an ox demon in the sea at Ushimado, Bizen, and followed it to Kizawa in Ogoshi Village, where she climbed over Mount Ogoshi to Miya Mountain. The name “O-ogoshi” is said to have come from this.
