Fukunomiya Shrine
ふくのみやじんじゃ
It is said that the Fukunomiya Shrine was established when the descendants of Mitsuhiro Akamatsu, who perished in the “Kayoshi Rebellion,” fled to this area and enshrined Izanaki-no-mikoto and Izanami-no-mikoto, the military deities of the Akamatsu generation. In June of the first year of the Kayoshi era, during the reign of Emperor Go-Hanazono, the military god Akamatsu Mitsuhiro, who defeated Shogun Ashikaga Yoshikyo in Muromachi, was enshrined at the shrine. Mitsusuke, who was killed by Yoshikatsu, son of Yoshinori, was enshrined in Fuchu by his sons Hikogoro Noriyasu and Samanosuke Noriyasu, and is called Fukumiya Daimyojin.
