Iwaya Temple

Henshoin Temple, located in Takaya-cho, Sakaide City, was granted to Kobo-Daishi by Emperor Saga in 815, the 62nd Emperor of Japan, and was founded by Kobo-Daishi. It is said that this is where he practiced the five-night memorial service, and is also referred to as the inner sanctuary of Henshoin. At that time, Henshoin built many branch temples in the southern part of Takaya, and it was called the same as Koyasan in Kii Province, which was founded by Kobo Daishi, and had a high reputation as Koyasan in Sanuki Province.
