Konoike Tumulu

The Konoike Tumulus is located at the embankment of a pond, its structure unable to be seen while there is water filling the pond.
Usually, only the top stones barely emerge above the surface, as shown in the photo.
The horizontal stone chamber tomb is made up of a burial chamber where the deceased were laid to rest, and a passageway leading to it. Only the gate (genmon) between the burial chamber and the passage remains today.
