Anayakushi Tumulus
It is very significant that a cluster of burial mounds with horizontal stone chambers belonging to the late Kofun period (about 1,300 years ago) are scattered in this area, where Princess Ayaori is said to have come to Japan once upon a time. This tomb mound is the most dominant one, looking down on these tumuli. The stone chamber is made of andesite from this mountain, and the opening to the west is over 14 meters long. The chamber is approximately 7 meters long. The chamber is about 7 meters long, 2.5 meters wide, and 2.8 meters high, making it the largest stone chamber in the city. The sealed soil remains well, and the shape of the chamber as it was when it was constructed can be reconstructed.
