Horse God Pagoda
There is a graveyard called Irie Cemetery or Miyatake Cemetery to the southeast of Nishigamo Shrine in Kamo-cho, where two pagodas stand alongside an Edo period five-ring pagoda at the northern end. One of the pagodas is severely damaged, with only the lid and body remaining, while the other pagoda retains its original state. The stone pagoda is 1.82 m high, made of tuff, and consists of the base, body, lid, sorin, and jewel, from the bottom. The pagodas of Nishiyama Shrine, Kikuzuka Shrine, and Hachiboko Shrine scattered around Aya Hoki also have similar pagodas, and this style is considered to be unique to this region. The pagoda is thought to date from the early Kamakura period (1192-1333), judging from the shape of the body and lid.
