Uma no Kami Buddhist Pagoda
South-east of Nishikamo Shrine – a City-designated Cultural Property (Structure) in Kamocho – lies a burial ground known as the Irie Cemetery or Miyatake Cemetery.
At the center of its northern edge, two hoto (a type of stone pagoda) stand alongside a gorinto (five-ringed stupa) dating back to the Edo period. The 1.82m tall stone pagoda is made from tuff breccia. Its sections consist, in order from bottom to top, a foundation, body, roof, finial (sorin) and jewel (hoju). Similar structures can be found at the pagodas of Nishiyama Shrine, Kikuzaka, and Yahoko Shrine in Ayakita area, suggesting that this style may be characteristic of the region. Based on the design of the main body and roof, the pagoda is thought to date back to the early Kamakura period.
