Takaya Shrine
In ancient times, the Takaya family resided here and dedicated the shrine to their distant ancestor Tendonenomikoto, who was also called Morinomiya by the villagers, and in the 9th year of Sadakan, he was ranked fifth in the line of followers. When the funeral procession reached Takaya Shrine (Takaya-machi) on the way to bury Emperor Sutoku, a sudden wind and rain broke out, so the funeral procession placed the coffin on a large stone. The stone on which the coffin was placed was covered with blood. The stone platform on which the coffin was placed is still enshrined in the shrine grounds, and the Takaya Shrine is also called the "Shrine of Blood.
