Kamada Foundation Museum
This building, which is now the Kamata Mutual Aid Foundation's local museum, was built in 1922 as the library of the Kamata Mutual Aid Foundation, which was established by Sakaide industrialist Katsutaro Kamata in 1918 for the purpose of scholarship and social education. The semi-circular windows on the exterior walls, the stone-like joint-cutting on the walls, and the repeated semi-circular and hemispherical decorations on the wavy curved surface of the second-floor parapet are distinctive features of the building. Including the observation deck on the roof, the three-story reinforced concrete building is an early foundation building in Japan, and was registered as a cultural property as a reinforced concrete library building. With the construction of the station in the Heisei era, the local museum building to the south of the library was demolished, and the valuable materials inside were moved to the library, which is now open as the local museum.
