• The free-ride offer is available only to TicketQR users.
• Anyone can use the service by installing the TicketQR smartphone app and completing registration.

To further promote public transit use, “Sakaide City Free Public Transit Day (6th edition)” will be held on the dates listed below. On designated days only, fares for the Sakaide route buses will be free for passengers who present one of the following: the TicketQR app, a prepaid card, or a senior driver’s license surrender prepaid card.

The program will be offered on the dates of upcoming events selected through our event-collaboration application. When heading out to local events, please take advantage of TicketQR Free Public Transit Day and travel by public transportation.

In addition, the program will be held regularly on the fourth Wednesday of every month.

This is the design manhole of Sakaide City, which was decided through a nationwide public competition.

It depicts the “Nabeshima Lighthouse,” which is designated as a national important cultural property,
the “Seto Ohashi Bridge” visible from there,
and the city flowers of Sakaide: spring “cherry blossoms” and autumn “cosmos.”

Note: We recommend advance reservations as the number of rental cycles is limited.
Note: Rental cycle service may be suspended for safety reasons in case of rain, strong winds, or severe weather (or when such conditions are expected). Even with a reservation, rentals may not be possible depending on the weather.

Purpose
In order to promote the charm of Sakai City from a wide range of perspectives, transcending generations and gender, we are refreshing the title of “Miss Sakai,” which has been a familiar name for over two decades as our tourism ambassador.

Submission Process
From December 12, 2022, to January 31, 2023, we solicited suggestions via our association’s website and social media, receiving 610 proposals in total.

New Title
The new title has been decided as “Sakaide Kakehashi Ambassador.”

Thoughts from the Submitters
The title “Sakaide Kakehashi Ambassador” was submitted by three people.

• “Like the Seto Ohashi Bridge that spans Sakai City, I named it in hopes that the ambassador will become a great bridge (kakehashi) of connection.”
• “Just as the Seto Ohashi connects Shikoku and Honshu, I wanted the title to represent a future in which the ambassador will act as a bridge to the world, promoting the charm, information, and talent of Sakai City.”
• “Sakai City is the gateway to Shikoku via the Seto Ohashi. I hope the new tourism ambassador will become a ‘bridge’ connecting Sakai City with people across the nation, just like the Seto Ohashi.”

The Sakai City Tourism Ambassador will begin activities after the certification ceremony held during the pre-festival event of the Ohashi Festival in 2023.

On September 27, 2022, around noon, a lightning strike caused a fire that damaged the roof of Kamitani Shrine’s main hall. Thanks to the diligent firefighting efforts, the Agency for Cultural Affairs confirmed that “the value of the National Treasure has not been lost.” However, the restoration will require significant funds. Therefore, we are seeking your support through this crowdfunding campaign to restore the main hall to its original state.
