Fudo Waterfall
This 15m waterfall is a spiritual power spot with a carving of the Buddhist deity Fudo Myo-o (Acala). Located around the eighth station of Mt. Kiyama, it is said that it was named when the great monk Kobo Daishi carved an image of Fudo (Acala) into the rock wall during his ascetic training. The falls are said to have been used since times of old for Shugendo ascetic rituals, and the Acala is enshrined just off to the side.
The rugged sanukite-containing rock walls of Mt. Kiyama seem to exude an ancient energy and mystical views that have long captivated and overwhelmed visitors.
NOTE: The waterfall is reachable by a steep 40-minute trail hike from the temporary parking lot located about halfway up Mt. Kiyama on Prefectural Road Route 188 from Kamogawa area. Please wear clothes suitable for hiking and wear slip-resistant shoes, etc.
