Easy Island Getaway Healing Landscapes of the Seto Inland Sea and Yoshima Island

Yoshima Island on the Seto-Chuo Expressway’s Seto Ohashi Bridge, connecting Honshu and Shikoku, is the only island where you can stop by private car. You can walk from the parking area to the island’s settlement.
For over 400 years, it flourished as a “quarry island,” and traces can still be seen throughout the island. Stone from neighboring Ko-Yoshima Island was used for Osaka Castle’s stone walls during the Warring States period.
The Seto Ohashi Bridge viewed from below, appearing to sit atop residential roofs, along with the beautiful Seto Inland Sea and island scenery, is impressive. While the parking area offers an excellent viewpoint of the bridge up close, why not venture out for a scenic walk around Yoshima?

The Ogoshi district is located on the eastern side of Sakaide City, surrounded by Goshikidai on three sides, and faces the Seto Inland Sea to the north, making it a district rich in nature.
Agriculture flourishes here, with crops including Ogoshi mandarin oranges and lemons.
The Goshikidai Skyline road has been developed, and it is known as a driving course where you can enjoy views of the Seto Inland Sea glimpsed between the forests.

Shiromine-ji Temple is the 81st site on the Shikoku 88 Temple Pilgrimage, located on Mt. Shiromine in the Goshikidai range. In autumn, the temple grounds are painted in a beautiful blend of three colors—red, gold, and green.

The views from the main hall and the bell tower are especially breathtaking, often making both adults and children stop in their tracks. Nine key structures, including the Main Hall and the Tonshoji Hall, are designated as Important Cultural Properties of Japan.

The combination of historic architecture and vibrant fall foliage feels like a scene straight out of a storybook. The best viewing is typically from mid-November to early December.
