[Kohara Beni Wase Roll Cake — Sakaide’s “Crimson Jewel”]
A luxurious roll cake made with one whole Kohara Beni Wase mandarin, a Sakaide specialty.
The bright citrus tang and fluffy, lightly sweetened cream are perfectly balanced—one bite and happiness spreads.
“When there’s a fruit that catches my eye, I go straight to the farmer and buy it directly,” says the chef. The seasonal fruit he sources firsthand from growers across Japan is exceptionally fresh.
What began as a way to deliver peak-season fruit to customers as quickly as possible has also taken on another purpose. “If fruit doesn’t reach the market simply because it’s outside standard size requirements, I hope our direct sourcing can help reduce that loss,” he adds.
Depending on when you visit, you may find cakes made with Shine Muscat grapes, blueberries, chestnuts, figs, and more. The lineup also includes seasonal favorites such as strawberry tarts and rare cheesecake, along with a variety of baked sweets made with Sakaide sea salt.

[Sanuki Hime Strawberry Tart]
Beautiful to look at, this tart layers lightly sweetened cream and custard, while the crust—crisp on the outside and moist within—brings out the fruit’s juicy freshness.
Using seasonal fruit sourced directly from local farmers in Fuchu-cho, the sweets here are carefully made without preservatives or additives—more than 100 varieties throughout the year. Knowing the people who grow the ingredients makes each bite feel even more reassuring.
One of the shop’s biggest charms is that every visit brings a new cake to discover.
You’ll also find an ever-changing lineup—rice-flour roll cakes, Basque cheesecake, seasonal shortcakes, and more—so many new creations that they can hardly keep up with them all on social media.

[Sata Andagi Made with Ingredients Shipped Directly from Miyakojima (Setouchi Lemon, Purple Sweet Potato, Brown Sugar)]
From left to right—Setouchi lemon, brown sugar, and purple sweet potato—these sata andagi deliver a gentle flavor that deepens with every bite. Easy to take home, they’re perfect for an everyday treat or a thoughtful souvenir for someone special.
The limited-time “Setouchi Lemon” sata andagi was created through a collaboration with students from Sakaide Daiichi High School, inspired by the owner’s wish to make the sweets enjoyable for younger generations as well. Sale periods are announced on Instagram.
Inside, you’ll find a selection of Miyakojima specialties shipped directly from the island—foods, local goods, and even travel free papers—much like a little antenna shop for Miyakojima.
With the owner’s wish to “share the charm of Miyakojima with people across Japan,” friends back on the island lend their support. It’s a special place where you can feel a touch of Miyakojima’s atmosphere right here in Sakaide.
