Tokoroten from Shimizuya, a Specialty of the 88 Sacred Places

Shimizuya, open seasonally from mid-March to the end of November, is a traditional shop dating back to the Edo period and a “summer staple” for the people of Sakaide.
The “Tokoroten” (agar jelly noodles) served here is made from domestically produced tengusa seaweed harvested in early spring.

Carefully finished by hand, the tokoroten is characterized by its tenacious and smooth texture.

As an essential item for local festivals, it is deeply rooted in the hearts of Sakaide residents.

The “Strawberry Parfait” uses an abundance of “Sanuki Hime,” Kagawa Prefecture’s original strawberry variety sourced from contract farmers, creating a fresh dish where the sweetness shines.
This parfait, generously using strawberries grown in Kagawa Prefecture’s blessed land, evokes the feeling of spring in Sakaide.
